Marina del Rey : Restaurant Expansion Allowed

Los Angeles County officials have given permission to owners of the Lobster House restaurant to build a 150-foot-long observation deck and redesign Captain Bligh’s Coffee Shop into a 1950s-style coffee shop called Edie’s Diner.
The Department of Beaches and Harbors’ Design Control Board gave its permission after owners agreed to reduce the sign advertising the redesigned coffee shop from 15 to 8 feet. The board also asked owners to install a blue canvass awning, which members considered compatible with the marina setting.
The six-foot-wide deck would extend the entire length of the Lobster House and overlook the marina. The Department of Regional Planning and the California Coastal Commission must also approve plans for the deck.
