Erik Antonsson,assistant professor of mechanical engineering, and P.P. Vaidyanathan, assistant professor of electrical engineering at Caltech in Pasadena, have been named recipients of the 1986 Presidential Young Investigator Awards. Both will receive $25,000 annually for five years to conduct research. Antonsson, 31, of Pasadena, will use the award to further develop computer-aided design tools. Vaidyanathan, also a Pasadena resident, will continue his research in digital filter circuits.

Pomona Superior Court Judge Tom Nuss has been appointed to the board of directors of the San Dimas Chamber of Commerce. Nuss previously served as chairman of Pomona Valley Hospital, president of the San Dimas Rotary Club and as director of the American Red Cross, Pomona chapter.

Monsignor William Barry of Claremont has been reappointed to the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations by county Board of Supervisors Chairman Pete Schabarum. Barry is pastor of Lady of Assumption Parish in Claremont.

Ron Eaves, computer information systems professor at Cal Poly Pomona, has been named dean of the school of business administration at the university. Eaves, a resident of Claremont, previously served as associate dean of the university.

Biff Green has been appointed vice president of university relations at the University of La Verne. Green received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the university and a doctorate from Brigham Young University in Utah.

Lila Hines of Northrop Corp. has been named “Woman of Achievement” by the El Monte Business and Professional Women’s Club.
