Hollypark Will Hold 1987 Breeders’ Cup Races
Hollywood Park will be the site of the 1987 Breeders’ Cup horse races, officials of Breeders’ Cup Limited announced Tuesday.
The seven-race, $10-million thoroughbred event is set for Nov. 14, 1987. Hollywood Park was the site of the inaugural Breeders’ Cup races in 1984.
This year’s third Breeders’ Cup day is set for Nov. 1 at Santa Anita. It was held at New York’s Aqueduct last year.
“By running in California for two years we will create a focus and continuity for our event,” C. Gibson Downing, president of Breeders’ Cup Limited, said.
“We are anticipating great success for Breeders’ Cup day during the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita this year, and we believe we can build on that success by returning to Hollywood Park.”
