‘Time for Brotherhood’ Draws Comment

Thank you for your March 20 article, “Time for Brotherhood,” about a San Gabriel High School program.
As a Chinese-American who migrated here over eight years ago and went through the school system, I was impressed with the sensitivity you exercised throughout about a complicated and delicate issue.
The process of dismantling the prejudice that existed among the different ethnic groups will, undoubtedly, not happen overnight. This will require a great deal of patience and a willingness to be open-minded enough to want to communicate and resolve misunderstandings. It is in this light that I see the press as an ideal forum. And I am pleased to see that, in this instance, the press is indeed playing a much-needed role in fostering mutual understanding among the different ethnic groups in our community.
