‘A NIGHT IN FULLERTON’ CELEBRATES THE ARTS

“A Night in Fullerton,” an annual celebration of the arts, returns tonight with diverse offerings of art, drama, music and dance at 14 locations throughout the city.

In addition to the opening of the Muckenthaler’s new art exhibit, the evening features two exhibits of artworks in glass, performances by the Orange Empire Chorus and the Fullerton College Community Band, puppet shows and storytelling for children, music recitals and a number of other events and exhibits.

The free programs will be offered continuously from 7 to 11 p.m., with free bus transportation available between sites. On the streets, visitors will be entertained by mime students from Cal State Fullerton. Radio station KBPK-FM (90.1) will broadcast the festivities live. Cal State Fullerton, 800 N. State College Blvd.: “Jazz Fest,” featuring concerts by the Jazz Ensemble, plus an exhibition of cast glass sculpture.

Common Ground Multimedia Art Gallery, 509 N. Harbor Blvd.: “New Works,” a multimedia exhibit by gallery members.

Eileen Kremen Gallery, 619 N. Harbor Blvd.: “Diversities in Glass,” featuring the work of 14 artists, plus barbershop singing by the Orange Empire Chorus.

First Christian Church, 109 E. Wilshire Ave.: Concerts of popular music by the Fullerton College Community Band, under the direction of Larry Lowder.

Fullerton Civic Light Opera, 218 W. Commonwealth Ave.: Excerpts from various Broadway musicals, plus exhibits of theater costumes, scenery and props.

Fullerton College, 321 E. Chapman Ave.: Portrait sculpture, silk painting, jewelry casting, performances by dance students, a student photographic slide show and a display of famous newspaper front pages.

Fullerton Public Library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave.: Puppetry and storytelling by Janine Jacobs, plus exhibits of contemporary American Indian collectibles.

The Edge Gallery, 212 N. Harbor Blvd.: Contemporary art by local artists.

Gallery 57, 204 N. Harbor Blvd.: “Subjective: Objective,” an exhibit of formal figurative paintings by Rosalyn Chodos and Davidd Batalon.

Hunt Branch Library, 201 S. Basque Ave.: Drawings by Marie Marshall and paintings by Lucia Davis, “Songs of the ‘40s” by Lucia Davis and the Blueprint Jazz Trio and Dixieland music by Fullerton College’s Lemon Street Stompers.

Muckenthaler Cultural Center, 1201 W. Malvern Ave.: “Expressions of the Human Figure,” a juried exhibit of sculpture and paintings, and magic by Ross Rice.

Pacific Christian College, 2500 E. Nutwood Ave.: Christian music and dramatic presentations, video art demonstrations, and Myrna Cynaumon’s “6 to 60” student art exhibit.

Patrick’s Musician, 1969 Sunny Crest Drive: popular, flamenco, jazz and classical musical performances.
