One of three teen-agers driving along Hollywood streets and trying to open car doors was shot by an area resident, Los Angeles police said. Harry Miridjanian, 14, was in critical condition at Childrens Hospital, with a gunshot wound to the head, suffered as he rode in the back seat of the car, Lt. Ed Hocking said, adding that “he is not expected to live.” In the 1900 block of North Van Ness Avenue, the youths were trying the door handle of a parked car when a man stepped from a nearby house and began shouting at the teen-agers, Hocking said. The boys fled in their car. “As the boys’ vehicle drove from the scene, the man displayed a gun and began firing several bullets,” Hocking said. The fleeing car was struck several times, and one shot hit Miridjanian in the head. After questioning, Ara Aintablian, 25, a self-employed plumber, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, Hocking said.
