SECOND TIME AROUND

Producer Lawrence Schiller can’t leave a good thing alone: He wants to remake the Evil vs. Innocence classic “Night of the Hunter” (1955), in which Robert Mitchum is a sometimes charming, sometimes murderous preacherman on the trail of two children.

Schiller has the rights and hopes to direct for the big screen. He wouldn’t comment on casting, other than: “A newcomer might be involved. I had very good luck with Rosanna Arquette (in “The Executioner’s Song”) before she was known. . . . No actor would want to follow in the shadow of Robert Mitchum. So we won’t ask them to.”
