Bess Paces Chapman Track Win

Lili Bess won five events, set three school records and accounted for 28 points to lead the Chapman College women’s track team to victory over Whittier and UC San Diego in a tri-meet Saturday at Whittier College.
Chapman won with 72 points, UCSD was second with 47 and Whittier third with 45.
Bess, a sophomore, won and set school records in the high jump (4-feet 7-inches), long jump (15-10 1/2) and triple jump (33-0 1/2). Bess also won the 100-meter hurdles (16.49) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:14.84).
In men’s competition, Chapman scored 50 points but was far behind UCSD’s 81. Whittier was third with 31.
Chapman’s Wayne Briggs won the high jump (5-10) and 400 meters (52.30).
