Share

Librarians who toured the Los Angeles Central Library on Wednesday found that the Business and Science and Technology departments were severely damaged by Tuesday’s fire. For example, the patent collection, with microfilm records for the United States, Great Britain and some other countries, was destroyed.

Other areas severely damaged included:

- A collection of business periodicals, including many rare, irreplaceable trade journals.

- The natural history section.

- A collection of 12,000 cookery books, including several rare volumes.

- The consumer health section.

- A collection of computer books, including materials on programming languages.

- Technical schematics--manuals for radios, televisions, video recorders and other electrical and electronics gear.

- A vast collection of auto manuals.

- A collection of books and journals about guns.

- Many geological maps.
