23 Hurt as Bus Rear-Ends Bus
Twenty-three persons were injured today when a Southern California Rapid Transit District bus rear-ended another bus on 5th Street near Main Street in downtown Los Angeles.
One man, who suffers from a heart condition, was reported in critical condition, according to a spokesman for the RTD. The others were treated for minor injuries. The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. The spokesman said a No. 48 bus was struck from the rear by a No. 18 bus. Cause of the accident was under investigation. The accident delayed traffic on 5th Street more than an hour.
