A Nevada woman died Saturday morning after being struck by a car. She was walking on the dirt shoulder of Federal Boulevard in Lemon Grove, the San Diego coroner’s office reported.
Helen Portman, 66, of Zepher Cove, a Lake Tahoe community, was walking with a friend in the 6500 block of North Federal Boulevard about 10:30 a.m. when a car ran off the road and struck her, the coroner’s office said.
Portman died at Grossmont Hospital at 10:55 a.m. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
