First-round leader Betsy King shot a one-under-par 72 Saturday for a 139 total and held a one-stroke lead over Canadian Dawn Coe in the second round of the $200,000 Chrysler-Plymouth golf tournament at Chatham Township, N.J.

King had two birdies and a bogey.

Coe, a non-winner since joining the tour in 1983, had five birdies in a round of 70.

Becky Pearson, a non-winner in seven years on the tour, was two shots back after a 70. She in turn held a one-shot lead over rookie Deb Richard, who shot a 69, and former U.S. Women’s Open champion Janet Anderson, who had a 73.

Gary Player shot a par 70 for a 136 total and held a one-stroke lead over charging Bruce Crampton after two rounds of the PGA Senior tournament at Chester Valley Golf Club in Malvern, Pa.

Player was seven under par after 14 holes but bogeyed three of the last four.

Crampton, who won last week at San Antonio, shot a course-record 65. Crampton had six birdies while breaking the record of 66 set by Don January last year and matched by Player on Friday and by Arnold Palmer on Saturday.

Palmer was at 140, along with Lee Elder and Bob Charles. Dale Douglass was at 139 after a 69.

Howard Clark of England shot a 66 to share the lead at 205 with Ian Baker-Finch of Australia, who had a 68, in the third round of the $225,000 Spanish Open at Madrid.

Defending champion Severiano Ballesteros of Spain was fifth at 208 after a third-round 68.

Heavy rains at Fort Worth, Tex., washed out the third round of the Colonial National Invitation tournament and reduced the event to 54 holes. The final 18 holes will be played today.
