A deliveryman who arrived at Coco’s Family Restaurant early Sunday morning was attacked after he apparently walked in on a burglary, a police spokesman said.

Timothy David Snell, 28, was making a scheduled delivery shortly before 6 a.m. when he was attacked from behind in the kitchen of the Brookhurst Street restaurant, according to Police Sgt. Jim Brokaw. “Snell struggled with his attacker, but he was struck on the head and knocked unconscious,” Brokaw said.

Jim McNair, Coco’s manager, noticed that the restaurant’s front door had been pried open when he arrived at 6 a.m. He called police, who surrounded the building. Upon entering, officers found Snell unconscious on the kitchen floor. His attackers had fled earlier, Brokaw said.

Snell was treated by paramedics and taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital. He was treated for head and neck injuries and was reported in stable condition Sunday afternoon.

The burglary is under investigation. No suspects have been identified, Brokaw said, and the amount of loss has not been disclosed.
