A 19-year-old La Mesa man was killed Friday night when he was thrown from the bed of a pickup truck in Mission Trails Park, San Diego police reported.
The county coroner’s office identified the victim as Richard L. Seigman, 19, of the 4200 block of School Ridge Lane, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:25 p.m. accident.
Seigman was riding in the bed of the pickup truck driven by Jack Sampier, 20, police said. The truck was traveling fast and weaving in the 9000 block of Father Junipero Serra Trail as it approached Mission Gorge Road and went off the road, sliding down a hill and rolling over, police said.
Two other passengers--one riding in the bed and the other in the cab--suffered minor injuries. Sampier was not hurt, police said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
