Mike Schuler, an assistant coach of the Milwaukee Bucks for the past three seasons, will replace Jack Ramsay as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, two Portland television stations reported Tuesday.

Trail Blazer officials scheduled a news conference for this morning, but the National Basketball Assn. team would not confirm the port that Schuler had been hired.

Schuler, 45, met with Blazer owner Larry Weinberg and team’s executive vice president, Harry Glickman, Tuesday in Los Angeles.

KOIN-TV quoted Stu Inman, a former Portland official who works for the Bucks, as saying Schuler had informed him that he had reached an agreement to become coach of the Blazers. KGW-TV also reported that Schuler had been hired.
