Bicyclist Crushed by Truck’s Wheels
A Santa Ana car-wash attendant riding a bicycle Friday ran off a curb into the side of a trash truck, toppled under the vehicle’s rear wheels and was crushed to death.
A police spokesman said the Santa Ana resident, who was not identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead of head injuries at Western Medical Center shortly after the 3:30 p.m. accident.
The spokesman said the driver of the Great Western Reclamation truck was stopped at a traffic signal at the corner of 17th Street and Grand Avenue.
The driver was not cited, police said.
