Oil and Sea Lanes

Share

Offshore oil drilling has been a concern in the County of San Diego for several years. And now it seems that the city has a real chance to elect a mayor who can effectively advocate the city’s desire to prevent drilling--Bill Cleator.

Only Bill Cleator brought up the theory of national security by not revealing sea lanes used. If drilling were to occur, the Navy would be forced to establish sea lanes where submarines could pass. Once these sea lanes were established, the Soviets would know precisely where the submarines were at almost any given moment.

Protection of our coastline is crucial for our environment as well as our local economy.
