San Diego police are investigating the slaying of a sailor whose badly beaten body was found Sunday afternoon in a vacant building in Pacific Beach.
The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
Responding to an anonymous tip, police said they found the body about 1:30 p.m. in the vacant Pacific Bell building in Pacific Beach.
The motive for the slaying may have been robbery, police said. Near the body police found a wallet containing the sailor’s Navy identification card.
