2-Year-Old Girl Sought After Being Kidnaped From Her Granada Hills Home

Authorities are searching for a 2-year-old girl who was kidnaped from her Granada Hills home last week by a man who knocked the girl’s grandmother to the floor as he fled, police said Friday.

Los Angeles police are seeking the girl’s mother, Choong Hee (Kay) Kim, 36, in an attempt to determine if the incident is a custody dispute or something worse, Detective Sandra Palmer said.

“We are very concerned about the welfare of the child,” Palmer said. “If the mother indicates that she doesn’t have the child, then we have a real big problem.”

The girl, May Kim, was being cared for by her paternal grandmother, Wonsook Kim, 64, on the night of May 29 when a man forced his way into the house in the 12000 block of Bradford Place, Palmer said.

The man took the girl from her bed, then kicked the grandmother several times as he ran from the house. He fled in a dark green two-door car, possibly a Toyota or Datsun, Palmer said.

Police believe that Kay Kim may have her daughter or know where she is, Palmer said. Kay Kim separated from her husband, Herald Kim, in October and has not talked with him since, Palmer said.
