A Norco man and a boy attacked a man with baseball bats Sunday in the drive-through line of a fast-food restaurant, police said.

Randall Groff of Corona managed to wrest a bat from one of the attackers and smack him on the head before he ran away, said Corona Police Lt. Fred Biggs.

Police arrested two people on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Manuel Trevino, 19, was booked into Riverside County Jail, and a 14-year-old boy was booked into Juvenile Hall.

Police said the two were in a car behind Groff’s vehicle at a Naugles restaurant when they began honking their horn and yelling. When Groff got out of his car to ask what was wrong, Biggs said, the two came after him with baseball bats.

None of the three were seriously injured, Biggs said.
