Eight people, six of them teen-agers, were injured Monday when a school bus collided with a car in Canoga Park, Los Angeles police said.

The accident was one of five unrelated crashes in the San Fernando Valley area Sunday night and Monday that killed a man near Newhall and a pregnant woman in North Hollywood. Two mobile homes also were damaged when a van ran into them near Chatsworth.

In Canoga Park, the students and the driver of a 12-passenger Los Angeles Unified School District bus headed for Hale Junior High School suffered only minor injuries, Officer Art Hill said. The car’s driver was in serious condition at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills.

The bus was turning left onto Vanowen Street about 7:30 a.m. when it collided with the auto, which was northbound on Platt Avenue, Hill said.

In an accident about 10 a.m. Monday, a Sepulveda woman seven months’ pregnant was killed when her car struck a utility pole in North Hollywood as she left the Hollywood Freeway on the Magnolia Boulevard off-ramp.

Fetus Couldn’t Be Saved

Diana Darret, 20, was taken by helicopter to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where she died three hours later, the California Highway Patrol said. The fetus could not be saved, the CHP said.

On Sunday night, an unidentified 20-year-old Visalia man was killed near Newhall when his southbound pickup truck hit the rear of a tractor-trailer, then was struck by another truck, the CHP reported.

In North Hollywood, 56-year-old Gladys Ouziel suffered head injuries Monday morning when her car swerved off Magnolia Boulevard, crashed through two fences and landed upside down in the Tujunga Wash, authorities said. She was in serious condition at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Also Monday, a van leaving the Simi Valley Freeway hit a curb on the Topanga Canyon Boulevard off-ramp and crashed into the Indian Hills Mobile Home Village just north of Chatsworth, CHP Officer Tom Nickell said. No one was injured in the 2:27 p.m. accident, but the van plowed through the bedroom of one trailer and crashed into the rear of another.
