A former Canyon Country man was sentenced Monday to 26 years in state prison for sexually abusing his daughter and 10 other children while they were in the care of his wife, who worked as a baby sitter.
Franklin Leroy Peyton, 39, was given the sentence by San Fernando Superior Court Judge Ronald S. W. Lew. Peyton had pleaded guilty last month to 12 charges involving molestations that occurred during 1983 and 1984.
Peyton had been charged with repeatedly molesting the children, who were all under 10 years old at the time. He also admitted to sexually abusing his daughter, who was 5 at the time, according to court records.
A Colorado court last year found Peyton guilty of sexually abusing his son, and he was sentenced to serve 16 years in prison there, Deputy Dist. Atty. Myron Jenkins said. Peyton will likely serve his time in a California prison and be granted credit for his Colorado sentence, Jenkins said.
