British tennis umpire Marc Cox who was in charge of the 1985 Wimbledon women’s singles final, will not work at this year’s event.
An article in the Sun, a British newspaper, last August questioned Cox’s claims of holding a medical diploma, which led to launch an investigation. Because of the findings, association secretary Janet Jones said: “. . .We decided it was better if Marc did not umpire and he went into our ‘suspended category’ until we heard from him and we could carry out an inquiry into the allegations.”
