Dan Maloney, just two days after resigning from the Toronto Maple Leafs, was hired as coach of the Winnipeg Jets and promised to restore “order and discipline” to the National Hockey League team.
“Those are my top priorities,” Maloney said at a press conference. “The Jets have lost their confidence, and I think I can help them get it back.”
The hiring of Maloney was announced at the NHL’s annual meetings by Jet General Manager John Ferguson, who had taken over the coaching duties after firing Barry Long on March 4.
