Kirk Gibson has accused the Kansas City Royals and another major league baseball team of tampering with him while he was under contract with the Detroit Tigers.
According to Booth News Service, Gibson said he was contacted by an unnamed team as early as December, 1984, just two months after the Tigers had won the World Series and a year before he became a free agent.
Gibson said a Royals’ representative then approached him during Kansas City’s final 1985 series in Detroit, July 29-31. Kansas City General Manager John Schuerholz denied the allegation.
