Pedestrian Fatally Struck: A 70-year-old man was killed when struck by a car on Beach Boulevard at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol said. The victim was identified by the county coroner’s office as Arthur Harding of Santa Maria. Harding was running east across Beach about 1,800 feet south of Imperial Highway when he was hit by the southbound car, according to Phyllis Rusciolelli, CHP communications supervisor. The driver, who was not charged, was taken to La Habra Community Hospital for treatment of shock. The CHP did not know how fast she had been driving.
