El Monte : Patrol of 8 Parks Resumes
Three officers from the Police Department’s Community Relations Unit will be assigned throughout the summer to full-time patrol of eight parks in El Monte, under a program designed to increase interaction between police officers and visitors to the parks.
The officers will participate in sporting events with youths at the parks, discuss recreational programs with park personnel and handle any problems that require police help.
Police Chief Wayne C. Clayton said the Park Patrol Program, now in its eighth year, is similar to having regular beat officers in the parks.
