Share

A fire, apparently sparked by an electrical short, caused $23,000 damage to a tile store, a Fire Department spokesman said Thursday.

The blaze at Color Tile, 5451 Beach Blvd., occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and appears to have started in an electrical panel at the rear of the store, fire dispatcher Helen Laliberti said.

The fire caused $18,000 damage to the store’s contents and $5,000 to the structure, she said. The store and an adjacent delicatessen remained closed Thursday while the power was shut off for repairs, Laliberti said.
