Soul Singer Pendergrass Held ‘Alert’ After Crash

PHILADELPHIA — Soul singer Teddy Pendergrass, hospitalized for injuries sustained in a van crash, was alert and responsive Friday, an official at Osteopathic Medical Center said. Pendergrass, a paraplegic since a 1982 car accident, was injured Thursday when he crashed his specially equipped van into a utility pole.
