Danny Sullivan drove his new March-Cosworth to an unofficial track record in practice for Sunday’s Cleveland Grand Prix, but the session was marred when Ed Pimm crashed and suffered a broken left shoulder blade.

Pimm, 30, of Dublin, Ohio, lost control in the first turn and struck the wall with the left side of his March-Cosworth.

Sullivan ran an afternoon lap in 66.057 seconds, at a speed of 135.156 m.p.h., to better the official one-lap track record of 131.695 m.p.h. set by Bobby Rahal last year.
