Homicide detectives Sunday arrested Robert Allen Waters, 26, on suspicion of murder in the shooting death Saturday of a 20-year-old convenience store manager in East San Diego.
The woman, identified by the coroner’s office as Clara Jane Steffen, was found dead in her home in the 4700 block of Lenore Drive about 5:30 p.m., San Diego police said.
Neighbors told police they had heard what sounded like a gunshot several hours earlier but did not report it.
The woman had been shot in the head, a San Diego Police Department spokesman said. Police said Steffen and Waters lived together.
