The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball program was placed on two years’ probation, and Coach Steve Yoder was reprimanded for not reporting a rules violation, the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. announced.

The Badgers will still be eligible for postseason play and will still appear on television, but the school must forfeit 20 games won between Jan. 25, 1982 and March 1984, implement a compliance program and monitor its outside athletic interests, the NCAA said.

The NCAA said an investigation began after a series of newspaper articles disclosed that an athletic booster “guaranteed a personal bank loan on behalf of a men’s basketball team member in 1982.”
