Nicklaus, Tway Head Field for Jerry Ford Golf

Jack Nicklaus and Bob Tway will headline the field of PGA Tour players who will compete Aug. 18-19 in the 10th annual Jerry Ford Invitational golf tournament.

The 36-hole event will be held on the new Country Club of the Rockies course at Arrowhead, which was designed by Nicklaus.

Mark Pfeil, who birdied the final two holes at the Vail Golf Club to defeat Jim Colbert by one stroke last year, returns, along with all of the other former winners except Hubert Green.

Nicklaus, who won the inaugural Ford tournament in 1977, captured his sixth Masters title last April, giving him an unparalleled 20 major titles. He has won 71 tour events.

Tway, 27, is the tour’s newest sensation, having won three times this season and standing second on the money list with $460,005.

Other entrants include Craig Stadler, Mark O’Meara, Johnny Miller, Nick Price, Gil Morgan, Andy North, John Cook, on Pooley, Lee Elder, Miller Barber, Dale Douglass and tour commissioner Deane Beman.

Returning to the Ford tournament this year will be two members of the LPGA circuit, Amy Alcott and Donna Caponi.
