The Nation : FAA Tightens Fire Curbs

The Federal Aviation Administration adopted tougher flammability standards to delay the spread of fire and creation of smoke and toxic fumes in aircraft. The new rule for existing and new commercial aircraft with 20 or more seats requires the use of “more fire-resistant and slower-burning materials than those currently allowed for cabin sidewalls, ceilings, partitions, stowage compartments, galleys and other interior structures,” the Transportation Department said.
