Larry Bird has been cleared by the Boston Celtics to play in Magic Johnson’s All-Star basketball benefit for the United Negro College Fund Aug. 10 at Pauley Pavilion.
Bird’s participation had been in doubt since Celtic General Manager Jan Volk recently said that Celtic players would not be allowed to play in outside, unsupervised all-star games. Volk said that he would make an exception for Bird in this case.
