Fifty-nine Kings County sheriff’s deputies returned to work after an eight-day walkout over wages and retirement benefits. Contract talks resumed in Hanford and a settlement was reached after county supervisors threatened to fire the strikers. Deputies won an 11% salary increase, but had to accept the supervisors’ demand for a single-tier retirement program.
