Navratilova Usually Has Her Reasons for Crying
- Share via
In his article on Martina Navratilova, Mike Downey writes that while Martina is a “gracious winner, she is also a lousy loser.” Then he cites instances where Martina cried after losing matches.
Crying does not make someone a lousy loser. Crying is an emotional release, whether in sadness or in joy. In one instance, after losing to Steffi Graf, Martina cried because of the emotion of having her family there, not because she lost the match. Navratilova is intelligent and candid, not a weeper. So lighten up, already, Mike Downey.
