Place-kicker Alan Zendejas, a freshman at Arizona State, said his family has appealed to the NCAA to allow him to re-take standardized college board examinations in an untimed setting.
The Chino, Calif., resident took both the Scholastic Aptitude Test and the American College Test and has not yet received word on whether he achieved the required scores of at least 700 on the SAT and 15 on the ACT to become academically eligible for the football season.
Zendejas, who has a speech problem, said the appeal is based on English being a second language in his home and to ensure that he would be able to re-take the tests if his first scores were too low.
