Mayweather Stops Zambrano in Sixth
Roger Mayweather, 136, scored a sixth-round knockout over Sergio Zambrano, 134 3/4, of Mexico in a scheduled 10-round fight Thursday night at the Olympic Auditorium.
Zambrano, who had been knocked down in the third and fifth rounds by right crosses from Mayweather, suffered severe cuts over the bridge of his nose and over both of his eyes.
The victory, his third in a row as a lightweight, improved Mayweather’s record to 26-4 with 16 knockouts. Zambrano’s record fell to 34-2-1.
