A 66-year-old Redondo Beach woman was killed when the car in which she was a passenger plunged 150 feet over a Palos Verdes Peninsula cliff, Palos Verdes Estates police said. Betty Stumbaugh was wearing a seat belt, police were told by her husband, Everett Stumbaugh, 56, and was unable to leap clear as he did when the car was forced over the side of Paseo del Mar near Bluff Cove by a pickup truck that swerved over the double line. The husband said he tried to avoid the truck and shouted to his wife to jump.
