New Jersey General quarterback Doug Flutie will sit out the 1986-87 NFL season unless General owner Donald Trump agrees to pay part of Flutie’s potential National Football League salary, the Boston Herald reported.
Flutie reportedly said he would play in the NFL if Trump agreed to make up the difference between his NFL contract and his $1.3-million contract with the USFL Generals. Flutie’s NFL rights are held by the Rams, who say they are not seeking a quarterback and would probably offer him about $300,000 to play this season, the newspaper said.
