6 Teen-Age Boaters Rescued
Six inexperienced teen-age boaters missing overnight in an open boat off Catalina Island were rescued shortly after 10 a.m. today, and all were unharmed, the Coast Guard reported.
The boat, carrying five teen-agers from San Clemente and one from San Juan Capistrano, was spotted about 20 miles southeast of Catalina Island by the crew of the fishing boat Terry R, Coast Guard spokesman Charles Embleton said. The 19-foot Bayliner, an open boat with no radio or navigational equipment aboard, left the island between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, he said.
