Marine’s Body Found Under I-5 Bridge

OCEANSIDE — The body of a 28-year-old Marine was found under a freeway bridge early Sunday, Oceanside police reported, adding that circumstances of the death were “suspicious.”
An Oceanside resident walking toward Oceanside Harbor about 7:10 a.m. Sunday discovered the body beneath the Interstate 5 bridge at the San Luis Rey River. The body was near a pedestrian path north of the river.
A spokesman for the San Diego County coroner’s office said the man has been identified but military authorities at Camp Pendleton were withholding the name until relatives could be notified. An autopsy is scheduled.
