Chris Evert Lloyd and West Germany’s Boris Becker breezed to easy victories Friday night after Jimmy Connors, looking his age, managed to beat 19-year-old Claudio Pistolesi of Italy in the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.

All three advanced to the third round.

Lloyd took only 35 minutes to romp past Czechoslovakia’s Regina Marsikova, 6-0, 6-0. The loser won only 14 points.

“Regina had an awful night; she couldn’t do anything right,” Lloyd said. “I felt sorry for her because we all go through nights like that.”
