Smog Alert
I have a lung-congestion problem, although I have never smoked. I therefore greatly appreciate your article on smog, which affects everyone’s health. I am a retired scientist who has investigated the acid-rain situation. I do not worry about traces of sulfuric acid but I am very alarmed about the effects of nitric oxide and acid on the lungs of the residents of the Los Angeles Basin. I believe that all efforts that tend to reduce the generating of nitric oxides by the automobile and aircraft industries deserve a high priority.
