Fair to Grow 1 Day to Ease Crowding
Hoping to spread out opening-weekend crowds and relieve traffic congestion, organizers of the Orange County Fair have decided to extend the traditional 10-day event in Costa Mesa to 11 days beginning next year.
The fair will begin next year at 5 p.m. July 9, a Thursday, and run through July 19, officials announced. In the past, the fair has opened on a Friday.
Members of the Orange County Fair Board indicated that they may extend the event even more in the future to accommodate increasingly larger crowds, which were estimated this year to total more than 439,000 people.
