Local News in Brief : Sun Valley Driver Dies as Car Hits Pole
A21-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving crashed into a utility pole at Sunland Boulevard and Tuxford Street in Sun Valley, Los Angeles police said.
Traffic investigators said John Steven Staudenraus of Sun Valley was driving his compact car south on Sunland Boulevard at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday when he veered into the oncoming lane of traffic, swerved back into the southbound lane, drove off the road and hit the pole.
Staudenraus, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of massive head, neck and internal injuries, police said.
