A twin-engine airplane made an emergency belly landing Wednesday afternoon at Burbank Airport after its landing gear failed to drop, authorities said.

The two occupants of the plane were not injured in the landing, which occurred at about 3:15 p.m., said Lori Fitch, a Burbank Fire Department spokeswoman.

The pilot flew the aircraft near the airport for two hours to deplete its fuel before landing, Fitch said. As a precaution, fire crews stood by the runway, which was closed for about an hour as the plane was removed by a crane.
