Poly Investigating Ex-Player’s Claim of Knife Confrontation
Poly High officials said Thursday they are investigating a 16-year-old student’s claim that she was threatened at knifepoint outside a campus bathroom last week.
Nicky Harris, who was trying out for the school’s B football team, said earlier this week that she was confronted on the evening of Sept. 10 by five male youths, one of whom had a knife, and was told to quit the team.
Eugene Crayton, Poly’s campus security officer, would not discuss the details of the investigation, but said that he “had some very good leads.” Jerry Kleinman, the administrator in charge of athletics, said there have been no new developments.
“As far as we’re concerned, a felony was committed on this campus,” Crayton said. “We’re continuing the investigation on the premise that when we find the people, they are going to be arrested.”
Harris said she decided to quit the team this week because, in addition to the knife incident, she had received several threatening phone calls.
