Six Acres Burned in N. County Brush Fire

Share

A brush fire in North County consumed six acres Saturday afternoon before a combined force of about 80 firefighters from the California Department of Forestry and units from the San Diego and Poway fire departments could extinguish it.

According to a San Diego Fire Department spokeswoman, the fire apparently started about 1:30 p.m. in nearly inaccessible terrain with very dense brush near Lake Drive southwest of Lake Hodges. Two California Department of Forestry air tankers also were used to establish a fire-retardant perimeter around the fire.

No structures were damaged, and the cause of the fire, which took firefighters about two hours to put out, is under investigation.
